Idealization is a cognitive process where individuals perceive someone or something as perfect or possessing qualities that are better than reality. This can involve exaggerating positive traits, ignoring flaws, or attributing unrealistic abilities to the idealized person or object. Idealization often occurs in relationships or when individuals are seeking something to aspire to or admire. It can lead to feelings of admiration, inspiration, and motivation, but it can also set unrealistic expectations and lead to disappointment when the idealized image does not match reality. **

Idealization can lead to dissatisfaction because it creates unrealistic expectations. When we idealize something or someone, we often set unattainable standards that can never be fully met. This can lead to feelings of disappointment and dissatisfaction when reality fails to live up to our idealized expectations. Additionally, idealization can prevent us from appreciating the true value of what is in front of us, as we are constantly comparing it to an unattainable standard. Therefore, while idealization may initially bring a sense of excitement and anticipation, it can ultimately lead to dissatisfaction when reality falls short. **

Idealization can be seen in art, literature, and even in how people perceive and present themselves. **
